Mitchell Rosenzweig is a multidisciplinary artist whose work spans painting, film, and curatorial practice. Known for his emotionally resonant visual language and socially conscious narratives, Rosenzweig has exhibited widely across the United States for over three decades. His art investigates themes of personal history, identity, community, and cultural change, often drawing on his own life experiences and regional connections throughout New England, New York City, and the Southwest.
Rosenzweig has presented 12 solo exhibitions, showcasing his evolving visual style and thematic depth. Notable venues include the Ogunquit Museum of American Art (ME, 2002), Carter Burden Gallery (NYC, 2019), Anderson Contemporary (NYC, 2017 & 2018), and multiple shows at the Compton Gallery in Boonton, NJ (2024, 2014, 2013). His early exhibitions included the Gallery Szent-Gyorgyi in Massachusetts (1998) and Gallery 10 in Washington, D.C. (1996). His work has continued to garner attention into the 2020s, with recent exhibitions at Parlor Gallery (NJ, 2022) Compton Gallery solo show (NJ 2025)
Rosenzweig has also worked as a curator, including a 2011 appointment as Art Museum Curator at the Mai Kon Pan Museum in Thailand. His curatorial perspective often reflects the same social consciousness present in his artwork.
His filmmaking and visual art practice have earned him several prestigious recognitions: Puffin Foundation Grant (2023) for film. Best Film Award at the Artstream Film Festival, Subway Film (2005).Highest Honors at the New Hampshire Film Festival for Nu Knees (1997). Individual Artist Fellowship from the New Hampshire Council on the Arts (1998).
Mitchell Rosenzweig is a prolific filmmaker whose documentaries and short films explore the emotional, political, and psychological nuances of American life. His work often examines working-class life, marginalized voices, and cultural shifts.
Rosenzweig’s work has been reviewed in The Washington Review, International Sculpture Magazine, and various local and national arts publications. In 1996, art critic Anne Banks, Professor Emeritus at North Virginia College, wrote a solo show review praising the emotional range and sculptural quality of his visual compositions. Mitchell Rosenzweig continues to create across media, offering work that is both aesthetically compelling and socially engaged, whether on canvas or through the lens.
